The new guidelines for long and wide transports were announced by the Swedish Transport Agency in 2023, but will only come into effect at the end of July 2025.
The Transport Agency’s regulations and general advice specify a number of important details for operating wide or long transports in Sweden.
For example, it explains which signs must be used (long load / wide load), how to mark the width of wide transports, and which warning lights and lamps are required on large transports.
The most discussed point in the industry right now is the new size requirements for signs on escort vehicles. These must now be at least 1.2 meters wide and 0.4 meters high.
